Fabulous But Fake is the name of a book by Norman S. Young and published by Fake Publications. The book helps antique dealers and others identify reproductions often imported for the interior design industry. They include a tin punched coffee pot that has a folksy parrot on both sides. Another in the series is the tulip motif as shown on the example in our collection. This coffee pot appears to have been from the same manufacturer. The goose neck coffee pots have been artificially aged. The major difference between these coffee pots and an original is the fact that the indentions go toward the inside rather than out.
One of these fakes is for sale on eBay here or here or etsy here
This tulip motif coffee pot is on display at Colonial Williamsburg and may be the inspiration for the reproduction. The online collection at emuseum.history.org does not have it listed so I can’t see if the dimensions are close. 1979.808.6
