For our #favorite blog post – One of our prized pieces is an 1855 Bar Folder. 
We acquired this at a tinsmith’s Convergence. We swapped an 1843 T Bar folding machine with this piece.
This model was replaced by the 1860 patent. There was, however, some overlap in using patent models. The 1843 patent, the 1855 patent, and the 1860 patent model are all shown in the 1869 Dover Catalog.
An interesting fact about this model is that there are instructions for use in the Dover Catalog. The catalog specifically states to use your right hand to pull the handle. Later models can be set up to use with either hand.
